The first Americans to fertilise Mars.

The legendary company tried to use a software to make up for a modification that made the aircraft ineherently unsafe, (after a certain angle of attack the aircraft is no more naturally stable, since the lift provided by the engines tend to lift the nose more), then linked a system that's potentially lethal (it can trim the tail completely down and at that point nothing the pilot could do with the stick can override it) to a single sensor, of two existing, creating a potential single point of failure, then sold a warning system that informs the pilots that the two inclinometers are giving different lectures (not a system that shut off the MCAS, only a system that warns the pilot of the potential source of the problem) as an 80.000$ optional.

It would have needed an extensive redesign of the fuselage, and so a brand new FAA approval process.

Actually what they'll pay for compensation is a lot less than what's 6 months of 737-MAX production (the minimum time required to reengineer the undercarriage) worth.

Yeah. The stall problem only happens at very high angles of attack, when the engines, due to their size and shape, add lift.
