  1. It's fictional, but it's hard now to not imagine those chieftains, that had fought each-other their entire life, reunited in a large hall, with a central fire, the day they decided to leave the lands they inhabitated since time immemorial, and go south, to unknowingly destroy the known world.

  2. After the invention of agriculture, invaders are often only a small percentage of the invaded. Infact they tend to leave only traces of their genome in the general population. That's possible because, in a little diversified society, like that of the Terramare, Vikings or Mongols, every male was supposed to be a warrior. In more "advanced" societies, like the Mycenean one, there was a caste of warriors, while peasants, the vast majority of the population, were not supposed to fight at all, and had no incentives in doing that because, for them, it made little difference if the ruling class was replaced.

  3. The "Peleset" are the sea people group that had been identified with the higest probability, since there's a clear link between the Philistines and the Myceneans (pottery, rites, burials...).

A high percentage of the bodies in the more recent burials show sign of violent death, so there was an endemic state of warfare between sites, but there are no traces of destruction of the sites (fire, scattered bodies or weapons). Nor two or three sites remained after the abandonement, profiting of the disappearence of the others. The land seems to have been abandoned all at once, and no culture replaced the Terramare one for hundreds of years. It's like those chieftains, that fought each-other for all of their lives, at a certain point simply agreed to leave their land, leaving none behind.

  5. Copper is actually quite common and well distributed. Through isotopic composition, we can estabilish the origin of any piece of copper used in bronze age. None of it came form America, nor there are significative traces of bronze age mining there.
