  1. Several designs made in the '30s were better than the Breda 30 (IE the Scotti LMG, or the Terni 1931). Probelm is that the Breda 30 had been adopted in 1930, and no Army revert a decision made only few years before, for something marginally better.

  5.  @hendriktonisson2915  The MG34 had been adopted in 1938, and the MG13 was a conversion of old WWI MGs, not a new weapon. The M14 had been replaced thanks to a war. The BAR was surely unsatisfactory as an LMG, but it had not even been replaced in US use by the much better variant FN Mle-D

  7.  @hendriktonisson2915  The ZB.26 had been tested prior to the adoption of the Breda 30. No army replaces an MG just adopted only because there is on the market something marginally better. All the "Breda 30 bashing" is a modern "internet era" thing. At the time the opinions were MUCH more blurred. Allied reports praised the Breda 30 in comparison to the Bren.

  8. .45 ACP and 9mm SMGs are usually quite heavy. The MAB 38/42 is actually lighter than the M3 Grease Gun and only slightly heavier than the Sten.

  9. It was common to all the first generation SMGs. Bumping the stock, the bolt retreats enough to pick a round from the magazine, but not enough to engage the sear. The crossbolt safety of the 38/49 prevented that, but it had to be engaged to work.

  11.  @222TripleJ  No, è più alta. Veniva ottenuta dando al proiettile una base leggermente concava. In questo modo si aumentava la capacità del bossolo, e si poteva mettere più polvere senza aumentare la pressione. La velocità di bocca, rispetto ad un 9mm Para, aumentava di circa 20m/s.
