They did before. The M60 was comparable, but shitty made. The SIG MG 710-3 was probably, all in all, a better MG than the PKM, but it came out just a little too late. Every major army alreadty adoped a GPMG, and were not willing to change it for a marginal superiority. BTW, ROF is entirely a question of choice. Rifle caliber MGs tend to naturally settle at around 900 RPM. If you want a slower ROF, you have to use some "trick" to slow it down. And THAT'S the case ofthe Negev-7. I’ve seen Negev 7 firing, and the ROF reported here is WILDLY incorrect. You can really count the ammo as they are fired. it’s a 500-600 RPM MG.

The ROF stated here is wildly incorrect. The Negev 7 is a 500-600 RPM MG. You can really count the rounds as they are fired. The NEGEV 5, in 5.56, is a over 1000 RPM MG.

"this is one of the core features of all modern GPMGs and SAWs, how quick and easy is and how foolproof is it to change barrel". XM250, fixed barrel.
