The sights should be over the gun, where you see the void space. He's firing blindly. Even with the sights present, they are made for short range combat. The utility of that thing as an artillery piece is practically none.

The sights had been removed (you can see the void space over the gun) so he's firing blindly. Even with the sights present, they are made for short range combat. The utility of that thing as an artillery piece is practically none.

Nato has still not showed up.

Ukrainians usually do something ingenious and useful. Here the sights had been removed (you can see the void space over the gun) so he's firing blindly. Even with the sights present, they are made for short range combat. The utility of that thing as an artillery piece is practically none.

Not really. The sights had been removed (you can see the void space over the gun) so he's firing blindly. Even with the sights present, they are made for short range combat. The utility of that thing as an artillery piece is practically none.

And even with the sights present, they are made for short range combat. The utility of that thing as an artillery piece is practically none. It can only fire at small-arms range. It can be of some use (once reinstalled the sights) only to reinforce a fixed position.

@reecom9884 In a trench, the gunner would be protected by the trench.
1
@reecom9884 Why you should move it? When I said "to reinforce a FIXED position" it was pretty clear the position was fixed. It's not that difficult to cover and camouflage a so small artillery piece. I've sen done with way bigger 105mm howitzers.
1
@reecom9884 And what does it counts what the Russians have done or not in "It can be of some use (once reinstalled the sights) only to reinforce a fixed position."? The fact that the cannon is a direct fire gun with a short range (that's what I said in my first post, why are you repeating it?). it's EXACTLY the reason it's sole utility would be to reinforce a fixed position. Long range guns capable of indirect fire are artillery pieces that fire from behind the first line.

@reecom9884 Russian have a lot of trenches, and many of them had been prepared for months.
1
@reecom9884 And so? Do you think that ALL the Russian trenches had been passed? Ukraine would have won the war in that case.
1
@reecom9884 So Russian use trenches and, as already said, that gun "can be of some use (once reinstalled the sights) only to reinforce a fixed position."
1
@reecom9884 And, even in the improbable case you have a complete knowledge of al the Ukrainian frontline, who cares what they have? The statement was: "It can be of some use (once reinstalled the sights) only to reinforce a fixed position." NONE EVER stated it WILL be used like that.

Even with the original sights present, they are made for short range combat. The utility of that thing as an artillery piece is practically none. It can only fire at small-arms range and without protection for the crew. It can be of some use (once reinstalled the sights) only to reinforce a fixed position.
