Nom Anor You can check the video "Huns: The Origin" of Kings and Generals. The Huns that invaded the Roman Empire (and had been defeated by an already dying Empire in the end) had little in common with the ones that attacked Han China.

At the peak of its westward expansion, the Han dinasty occupied the Tarim basin, while at the peak of its eastward expansion Rome touched the shores of the Caspian sea. At that point the two cultures were separated "only" by about 1600-1700 km of land (plus the width of the Caspian sea), thats a long distance, but not incredibly long (is practically the lenght of nowadays Turkey), and that distance was north of the Parthian Empire. At that point, had they known each-other better, there could have been a mutual goal to cut the middleman out.

Nom Anor Actually the Huns had been defeated by an already dying Roman Empire and ceased to exist, they didn't defeat it. In reality China paid tributes to the Xiongnu for 70 years, Much more than the Eastern Roman Empire did to the Huns. What's sure is that more than three centuries had passed since the Han fought someone with a similar name. The Romans defeated many Germanics before the Goths managed to invade the Empire. The Goths were not stronger than those than had been defeated before, It was the Empire that was weaker. Times changes.
