@MrClassicmetal The tendency of pumapards to be smaller (about half the size) of both parents and comparatively short-legged is quite interesting. I'ts like mixing the genome of so distant relatives, instead of creating an "average" of the two, the offspring looses the evolutive specialization of the parents (that made them big and long-legged in respect to early feliforms), reverting to a more "primitive" shape.

@Reyma777 Yeah. That (long body, long tail and short legs) seems to be the "basic mammal predator form". All the modern mammal predator families derives from animals of similar shape. I wouldn't be surprised if, when felis and panthers diverged, their last common ancestor had more or less the dimensions and shape of a pumapard.
