  4. Russian units absolutely shot down a number of their own aircraft, so many they forbid those units in some areas from launching at all except on specific orders from the top thats how bad it was.

  5. I read today that the Kinzhal is only capable of one third of the velocity the Russians had previously claimed, according to an article in The Economist. So that would be around 1100 ms or around 3.4 Mach. The publication got official access to a Ukrainian Patriot operator. This makes sense, and might have fed into the US decision to donate it to UKR. Ukraine had plenty of prior radar data on Kinzhal from over the last year to share with Patriot operators in the West, and of course with Raytheon.

  7. Early in the war the Russians forbid their air defence units in certain areas to launch at all because they had quite a few blue on blue incidents.

  8. Best YT vid I have seen for a long time bravo Ryan. Patriot - its best asset is also its greatest disadvantage - that super powered radar, MPQ-65 has twice the power of the older unit I believe.

  9. If you look at the video there is clearly a ground explosion so your words are pretty much moot. It wasn’t a paveway with selectable fuzing options, airburst 10 meters, point impact or delay for example, and there was an orange fireball that looked like propellant burning to me. Guided bombs don’t have any propellant.

  10.  @brianbowen2959  I agree, but from a 10 meter burst height those cars just wouldn’t be there after a blast. Even using a SDB. 250 lbs of PBX is very energetic. The ones with a smaller fill are penetrating weapons except one version that is designed for blast effects with very little fragmentation. Now if we look at Paveways we are talking even larger fills so the damage looks even less consistent with the use of those bombs. For me it’s the fireball seen that’s the giveaway.

  11. No evidence of 900 dead, no big crater, whatever hit that parking lot didn’t have a large warhead because the lot would have been empty if it were a JDAM or a weapon of similar power. They also said they have missile fragments but won’t show any of them.
