Reminds me of the stories A12 / Blackbird crews from the 1960s tell of their missions with SA-2s coming up like telegraph poles and seeing them not guiding as their ECM worked its magic, what the jammers did and how they worked is all declassified now of course and available online. In another 30 years we will be able to see how they worked in OIF :P Takes big cajones to sit there trusting the egg heads have gotten their stuff right!

  8.  @mark.083 the Vulcan EW were state of the art in the late 1960s but not in the 1980s. It’s an area that didn’t see the pace of development there should have been.

  9. I don’t think he had a loss of electrical generating capacity,I think it was some sort of power surge that made the electrical systems crap out. Systems are so integrated and interdependent these days a cascade failure of multiple systems is going to be difficult to stop happening. However many of these instances can and should be able to be mitigated somewhat.

  14. With the existence of the SU-35 I dont really see the point of the SU-57 other than as a technology demonstrator and something to keep Sukhoi in the 5th Gen game.

  15.  @crimeanhawk123  It is a global classification, no matter what you wish to call it. In my view this is the Sukhoi attempt at manufacturing a 5th gen aircraft but it falls short of the F-22 mostly because they didnt have enough money to throw at it. Russia has the SU-35 for the same reasons.
