You sure? On the QE they line the aircraft up and launch off the ski jump. On a USN CVN they are lined up and hooked up to a Cat which has to account for aircraft launch weight and be set up, I am sure that doesnt take a lot of time but overall it could be pretty similar.

Sortie rates are the only real numbers of merit. I think QE is quoted at 72 per day with a surge to 110. Ford is quoted at 160 at surge. Nimitz at 120 per 12 hour shift out on station.

You are aware that the RN have considered that right? Take another look at the F-35 B and work out for yourself how that can be worked around. Then you can ask the Argentines how difficult it was for them to get a hit on either carrier in 1982.

F-18s can launch with less fuel and a larger weapons load, then they can buddy tank or take on fuel from KCs in the air. If you do not have Cats and Traps you are limited to the aircraft types you can launch but with Helos, V-22s and F-35 B and the possibility of a compact launch system for small drones you theoretically have most Ops covered. The SKi jump isnt better its just a different way of achieving the same aim. My only real worry is the lack of refueling aircraft that reduces reach of a strike carrier considerably.

@Aramsa-Khan You are not making much sense mate. If we refused to reuse the names of old ships lost in wars 70 years ago we would have to use numbers instead. Its the same for any Navy, and using an old name is paying respect and honour to those who served before.
