  9.  @andrewpease3688  To be fair, the EU procurement policy was sound, it was production issues and vaccine failures that caused the problems, the UK was lucky in that regard. If the AZ vaccine had failed trials and say Pfizer could not supply us, we would be in the same position.The margins are thin.

  10.  @andrewpease3688  The UK and everybody else understands what happened, simply because they are all buyng the same vaccines from the same companies. One of the issues with the UK view on this is our UK centric view, which is look at the EU buy only through the prism of their AZ purchase, when their issues go far beyond that. The overall EU purchase was vastly larger than our own, so manufacturing issues will always have greater impact on the continent than they will ever have for us, especially when you consider we have now bought 420 million doses for a nation of just 67 million. If the EU had bought up our equivalent, it would be close to 4 billion doses.
