  5. coolwitme1 Yes its me again, SDI was a dead end, a money pit which yielded NO solution and was shitcanned. It did however produce some neat technology. The KKVs and IIR systems evolved into what we are using today but the truth is, it would cost America about 200 Billion dollars to defeat a notional North Korean ICBM using a space based solution and that cost is to counter ONE single missile with a relatively primitive decoy payload. AEGIS Ashore and the EPAA is for theatre missile defence in the IRBM and SRBM range, not to counter Russian ICBMs. I know that Russia is only concerned with what the evolution will look like in the future. Right now the new kid on the block is going to be SM-3 Block 2 A, its a much faster missile with much greater range. The next iteration of SM-3 in a couple of future blocks WILL have "some" capability against certain types of ICBM, this is what has Russia nervous but even then, they would need to base dozens of AEGIS ashore systems all over Europe with thousands of SM-3s to counter a full bloodied Russian strike, thats never going to happen and this is where Russian paranoia comes to the fore.

Raul is just waiting for him to pass away so he can move Cuba into the 21st century, that does not include basing Russian Nukes on Cuban soil, or anyone elses nukes for that matter, I hope to see an independent Cuba for decades to come they need to remain non aligned for their own sake.

New Nationalist European Dawn Mate, you cannot defend a region with "one" S-400 battery, its not even possible, so your idea of placing singleton systems in the "strategic places" you mentioned is not workable. Low level penetration is a simple tool you may use to circumvent any SAM system, the S-400 radars will not be seeing low level attackers for one simple reason, the Earth is not flat. If you want a NATO attack on Russia, you have to convince all NATO leaders that they need to do it, never going to happen unless Putin wakes up insane one day.

  19. Some people think the S-400 can make an area with a footprint on the ground of 400 KM "sterile" against air threats, they would be incorrect. Its a great looking system , on paper, but its not been tested at all in real combat.
