@SwordQuake2 33 engines with consistent reliability - until the booster attempted to reorient is pretty impressive. Even then we really don’t know what was supposed to happen regarding actual shutdown order versus scheduling. Do we know how the FTS system works on the booster? Where are the pyrotechnics for example.

If Scott is correct it proves once again that gravity and inertia is king.

I am worried they might have to add some extra equipment to get over the issues they have with engine relights which of course adds mass and reduces payload. Unless there are changes they can make without having to do that. Nobody has ever tried to recover a booster in this manner it looks very technically demanding. Maintaining fuel flow and pressure under immense forces is challenging when the vehicle is turning.

@luigeribeiro It was only the second ever flight. That demonstrates a great capability.

@ericstyles3724 Whatever system they had to maintain fuel flow may have worked, it could have been a different issue that caused some engines not to relight.Who knows.

@virt1one I think it can be called a partially successful spectacular failure.

@RvVx7 Yeah it is the Musk ego that is doing that.

Scott what can you tell us about the booster FTS system? Where are the pyrotechnics positioned and how does it destroy the vehicle. Great video by the way it’s a pleasure to subscribe.
