  4. If I where king of Latvija I would restrict all urban residential contruction to have to be done in traditional baltic, gothic, jugendstyle, baroq or neo classical. Beauty is very important to me and also keeps people sane. Cities are home to 60% of the population and thus they should feel homey.

I mean I learned english to understand american cartoons yet the previous animations Ive watched are Oregairu and Akame ga Kill. Why? Because animegirls are prity beyond comparison to what the californians are putting out these days.

People have a better sense of beautiful architecture before they enter university to study architecture. Only artists that are self taught and self employed pain what the common people want to see. "It's the builders" I literally moved to building roads because I refuse to engeneer bad buildings. "buyers who are too cheap to care." So the government must mandate it. Any artist worth his salt told to make something ugly will refuse, and if hes fired for it he will spit in the bad guys face and say: "you cant fire me I quit." Have pride! - the virtue on which western civilization is based. If everyone would refuse the corruptors contract he would be powerless. You are responsible for your own dam actions and when you do bad things after being ordered to you share just as much blame as your master. Infact given godlike powers (so my might can not be matched) I would start handing out prison sentences to the corrupt architects/designers/polititans/profesors/investors/ ... that have made cities so ugly.

The only city with modern achitecture Id ever want to live in is Planeptune, but thats not because of the architecture but rather because its a literal utopia where the governments top priority is keeping the people entertained as they just dont have any problems.

  16. I think all designs should be judged on their own (with a completely white background), all plants and animals removed (as humans naturally like nature and thus like the nature not the building being judged).

  18.  @markholland7322  Clearly you dont know your job as youre describing my job. We engeneers crunch numbers to make sure buildings are safe and recource efficient. Architects are artists that must make the building beautiful. If you wont make it beautiful we dont need you, we engeneers can make a big box ourselves, and the non euclidian shapes you often force uppon us are far from efficient. If you think Im commoner populist conservative you are sorely mistaken. I am infact an elite elitist who believes in building an utopia. And if you dont understand why there are cuts uppon cuts uppon cuts you clearly dont understand the economy. Economic realities are mercyless, low birth rate and aging population will crush everything and everyone. I myself try to avoyd as many taxes as possible since I know Ill never get a pension and pensions to the current old are already 40% of the budget. (and a good chunk is also pocketed by the corrupt government officers)

  19.  @joaocosta3374  As a civil engeneer Ive met a lot of architects and yea they dont oppose it. Its all about who gets to be an architect, when in university when told you either have to make something with the sickness of modernity or be failed most will quit, so few have the ability to infiltrate a system they dont like so its mainly the ones who comply with the existing system that are architects.

They shouldnt exist, 100% of the city must be beauitiful, if you disagree with something as basic as what is beautiful get out of my country.

  26.  @ROForeverMan  I didnt build my house nor is it ugly. It was built by my ancestors according to our old (less than 200 years) traditions, just with ceramic roof tiling rather than annually or decadaly replacable thach or shindles.
