  1. When dollar goes up - that means we are in a deflationary period; which coincides with less production to keep prices inflated to keep indebted firms in business. It is diminishing returns as more production cuts are required to keep prices artificially high - less dollars chasing less goods and services higher and higher - as both personal and wholesale debt consume more and more dollars. Inflation / deflation at all times is a strictly monetary phenomenon: Milton Friedman 101. Why does the media make up narratives to appease the public pysche? True inflation would require an overheated economy, weak dollar, and sustained wage growth that creates new dollars competing over the same amount of goods and services. This deficit creates higher prices that the new dollars are competing for - this is not rocket science.
