You are just learning this now...god I hate the media. They acted as an extension of the Fed...literally. The main issue / driver is the Fed, progressives, libertarians, and Treasury have zero idea how the monetary machine actually work. Do you understand the big three: Blackrock, Citadel and Bridgewater (colloquial term would be shadow banking) have greated an oligarchy after 2008; powered by QE (MMT). QE also killed fixed income and therefore they are bootstrapping cash flows from residential renting after buying up homes (mostly over paying). And for the record none of this is the 'free market' - just corrupt central planning.
