  1. Its always been deflation - our system money is generated by bank lending (its collateral plus liquidity that collateral underpins). In barney terms non performing loans equates to deflation (produce less and charge more). Fed does not by toxic assets - they swap in return for reserves that we can only use in their overnight lending market. Credit Risk is the true bell weather - not CPI or trimmed CPE, Fed's only real power is masking non performance (encouraging moral hazard) at the benefit of their participant ownership.
