Now let me think now Harriet, could it be money and self interest?. The basic salary for all MP's at present is £79,468. I would think she would earn a lot more if she becomes "The Speaker of the House of Commons". The soon to be replaced John Berkow earned £155,000 a year as "The Speaker of the House of Commons".☺️☺️☺️

@2handsandwiches Yes it is ridiculous. Also, a lot of people don't realise that there are more than a few millionaire Labour MP's, even the great socialist Jeremy Corbyn's net worth has been reported in the press as £3 million. Also reported in the press, Patricia Hodge, £18 million and Tony Blair £22 million, to name but a few. Sometimes these people are known as "champagne socialists". ☺️☺️☺️
