The Edward Colston statue was erected in Bristol in 1895 when people's views were different, you do understand that don't you?

This was not in London, it was in Bristol which is over 100 miles away.

A K Because the Edward Colston statue has been in Bristol since 1895, the majority of people living there would be so familiar with it and they probably walked past it everyday without giving it a second thought. It was only after George Floyd was killed that suddenly all these "protester's?" descended in Bristol and it is debatable whether they all came from Bristol and they suddenly decided that they were going to remove it because of it's links to slavery.

A K I am really angry about what these "protesters" are doing to the statues. Sometimes people like looking at statues for the craftsmanship involved in making them. I would have liked to have seen the Edward Colston Statue but I can't now because it was taken down against it's will by "protesters?".

@morlar Exactly, where does it stop?.

@artfull334 Not everyone has the same view as you in Bristol. Apparently a few years ago there was a petition for this Edward Colston statue to be removed and only 11,000 people signed it. Bristol has a population of over 500,000. Also remember that if it wasn't for what happened to George Floyd this statue would have stayed for eternity. Think how many people have walked past this statue every day and have never given it a second thought. Also these people who took this statue down and threw it in the river might be "protestors" to you but they are definitely not to me.

passius1 Anybody can do what they like now apparently and if you are fortunate to live in Bristol then the police will happily stand by and allow you do what you want whenever you want as is shown by the filming of these people doing exactly what THEY want to this statue.
2
passius1 Yes they are talking about putting the statue in a museum along with the placards from the protest but I personally don't like the placard aspect but it would keep it safe from bird droppings and "protesters?", lol. What worries me is where does it all stop? will it be street names that they object to next. Also if the trial of George Floyd doesn't result in the conviction that they want then it will all happen again and what will the protesters be looking to focus on next time. Also how many of these protesters in Bristol were from this BLM organisation? and I read yesterday that £1 million had been raised to support this organisation.

Nothing to do with "your London's Brother's and sisters", Bristol is over 100 miles away from London.

@giovannicorraliza4393 That seems to have all changed now.

A few years ago there was a petition about the removal of this Edward Colston statue in Bristol and only 11,000 people signed it. Bristol has a population of over 500,000. Also the police in Bristol stood well back from these so called "protestors?" and allowed them to do what they did.

America's problems should stay were they are, in America.
1
Exactly.

Apparently the police in Bristol are looking for these so called "protestors" and they could be charged with criminal damage, but i will believe that when I see it.
1
London?, this was in Bristol which is over 100 miles away.
1
Andrew Smith Yes they are.

theboi will Only in your mind.
1
theboi will I am not falling for your little trap, you need to find someone else to pick on.
1
@artfull334 .........and "protestors?.
1
@artfull334 Funny how I have no desire to visit Bristol ever.
1
@artfull334 Bristol has been shown to have a police force that act as bystanders and are fully supportive of "protesters?", who wants to visit a place like that?.
1
This statue in Bristol was first placed there in 1895.

Apparently only 11,000 people in Bristol signed a petition to have it removed. Bristol has a population of over 500,000.
1
Andrew Smith Yes let's see how many of these "protestors?" catch it and pass it on.
1
passius1 If you are going to pay for it then go ahead, I am sure you would be visiting it on a regular basis.
1
passius1 Are you referring to the wooden statue of Jimmy Saville which was inside the foyer of Scotstoun Leisure Centre in Glasgow?. I was reading about how they forgot it was even there and that the people and children who walked past it in the foyer didn't even know who it was. Also Jimmy Saville was born in Leeds but they did not commission a statue of him to be on display there.

passius1 Lol. I don't think I could squeeze myself into a scuba diving suit and I have never looked good in goggles. Also not good at diving but good at floating on the surface !Ike a giant blancmange. ⛱️⛱️⛱️⛲⛲⛲
