  1. +Pepperj When people do it wrong and wrap their arms around the ribcage, that's when it goes wrong. Or when you go tóó rough on a weak/young/very old person. Other than that, the Heimlich is just more extreme, you start with 5 times hitting (unless the coughing has gone to 'hhuuiiiieeehhh'-sounds, then go do 2 hard 'hits' (or whatever it's called in English) on the back and continue to the heimlich) and then you go do the heimlich.
