For anyone wondering, these minks were going to be killed for their fur, and now they're killed because of covid. In both cases, it's awful and the minks should stop being bred for that purpose.

@starshot5172 Not to mention, in normal cases of fur-harvest (I am assuming they got gassed in this case) but in normal fur-harvest circumstances, they get electrocuted in the bum so the fur doesn't get damaged. I mean, that's a horrific way to kill an animal, and the only reason is to wear their skin.

@apoloromero356 I will start respecting people once they write the word Minks with the M the right way around and not upside down. Just because something is legal, doesn't mean it deserves respect. Legal loopholes exist so that rich folk can take money away from people in poverty, hospitals that need the money and workers that spend their time making that money. I do not respect people with loads of money that use legal loopholes to take more money away than they'll ever need. And if you were to shove a few strings of spaghetti up your nose, and sing the Dutch national anthem, while proclaiming this song's performance is your finest work, it'd all be legal and I wouldn't respect you for it.

@gimhanikuruppu7358 Not to mention, wearing the fur of an animal you raised, treated well, slaughtered quick and painlessly and then used up áll the stuff from, is a whole different scenario then to have 60000 minks in cages, only to be 'harvested' after a few months. Mass-killing for fur is illogical and stupid.

@LouisIreland It's awful because all those animals have known is a cage. They were born, taken away from the mother, put into a cage and there they sat, wounds on their feet, waiting for death. And their usual death is anal electrocution. A normal mink, outside, runs around, eats some mice, burries a hole, impregnates a female, has babies, etc. Sure, he might get eaten by a bird at some point, but the bird is going to try and make that quick. A struggling mink has a nasty bite, so he'll be dead within a few seconds, hopefully and feed a family of hawks. Whereas in this case, there's only death and then you hang around the shoulders of a spoiled teenager, smoking and complaining about his scooter-bills. Or around the hoodie of a woman that's drinking Baccardi Breezer and crying about her exboyfriend. That's what you died for.

@mrwood4557 Slow fashion and re-using the materials. We have more clothes than we could ever wear. Harvesting mink like it's grains, with anal electrocution is not 'natural', it's horrible.

@bunnyhop1098 Ideally you shoot a pin in their brain, but I'll be honest, I'm not 100% updated on the current best methods. I know the current method of killing animals in the Netherlands is C02 and that is something I disagree with, because it's slow and it takes them ages to choke. If you forget about the fact that they've been raised in small cages to be a fur-lining on someone's hoodie, and only focus on the method of killing, I am unsure whether electrocution on the head would be a good idea. Anal electrocution doesn't seem to have many more positive results, other than the fact that they don't have to come near the biting parts of the animal. But as you can imagine, it's probably one of the most unpleasant things to feel at the end of your little mink-life.

@alaskantribute1560 Internet suggests otherwise. Also, I didn't say I was against fur, I am against raising an animal for it's fur under really bad living-conditions a.k.a. like an object.
