Or some people are just not triggered by these kindof things.
Don't try suggesting this is a good test to see if your significant other has empathy.
My ex would've probably teared up..yet he enjoyed hurting humans and talked about shooting them and how he wanted to throw some of them in boiling water (something that, indeed, severely disturbed me, incase you were wondering. He's my ex for a reason.)
And Í, myself did not tear up óne bit (as a matter of fact, my first thought was to let the dog peacefully(!) get a shot, why let him endure this stress, knowing there are só many dogs and the trauma will not heal and he might attack a human) but that doesn't mean I don't have empathy.
I have tóó much empathy, actually. And I'm trying to stop that, because I keep crying over the neighbours problems and I keep spending my own money on other people's problems and I've been adviced by several people, including a healthcare-worker to stop feeling sorry for everything and everyone, because my life has gotten complex and hard and difficult and I can not fix everything in the world or cry over every single dead pigeon.
What I'm trying to say is...empathy is beautiful, but rationality is important too.
So...nice story Smeg, but it's bullshit. Use your senses if you want to know if someone has empathy.
