  1. +Thomas ADHD here (Autistic Spectrum) and ohhh..I remember so many awful times. At some point, I was just afraid to visit people, out of fear that they'd offer me food. Some 'camp-leaders' would pack a bun with salami and butter and would then take the salami off and 'force' me to eat the dry bun with salami-tasting-butter. "You don't want to hold up the rest of the group, right? We can only finish when you're done." Which usually resulted in me, vomiting. I still have the same fear when someone asks me to try new food, in the back of my mind, I expect them to jump up and force me to eat the whole thing. I never try new foods in front of others. My mother in law once loudly spoke at the table; 'You are a real picky eater, aren't ya? I'm always supposed to cook something special for you!" To which I then tried not to burst into tears and whispered; 'But I asked if we could have potatoes, peas and meat and you said it was fine..." To which she then said; 'Yeah, but youknow, I can't just cook what Í wanted to make tonight, because then yóu don't líke it!" At that moment I just wanted to run off and cry. My ex didn't do anything, too afraid of his mother and I just sat there, staring at the ground, until she felt I was 'punished" enough for my picky-eating and returned to get the peas. From that moment on, I brought my own food, (happened only twice..) which she called; 'weird', but I'd turn to her and say; 'I wanted to save you the trouble of cooking for me. I know how much time and effort it takes to change your plans and so, I brought my own food."
