  1.  @cocobunitacobuni8738  I understand what you mean, emotionally it isn't different and I am against it. I however, do want to highlight that the clitoris is cut away on a girl, the complications are usually a lot worse and it makes sex painful. It is to done to make them abstain (and only have sex if their husband forces them to.) So, emotionally it is just as bad, but the above is why female circumcision is so much more fought against.

  2. Conforming to social standards does not make your kid less likely to get bullied. I was pretty in my teens, according to social standards. I was abused in every way possible by the classmates. They despized me, all for different reasons. Some said I reminded them of their sister, who they hated. Others said I looked too happy and they hated the unfairness (they were suffering and figured I was not) and some just needed a person to vent their anger onto and I was that person. Nothing would have changed that.

  6. It's not about pain, it is about consent. It is not a medically necessary operation. It does not benefit you. It does not need to happen. It violates the body. Leave the kid alone.

  10.  @MaBer-67391  Right. I'm sad to hear you got bullied, but I just wanted to highlight that this happened despite you being cut there. If you hadn't been cut, it would have merely added a new reason for the crowd to ostrichize you, but you were cut, so they bullied you about being skinny (because the rest was, as Americans usually are, not skinny, I presume, so you didn't fit in?) I can assure you that people that cut their babies genitals up so they 'don't get bullied for being different' are really misguided. Maybe not with bad intentions, but réálly misguided. (I was bullied and assaulted at school myself and I can assure you it made no difference whatsoever what I wore, how i looked or what I said. Only to myself. If I wore my favorite dress, they called me a disgusting goth and if I called my let's-hide-today-shirt they called me a boring mouse. Both were offensive, didn't make a difference. Didn't make a difference in getting beaten up any less. Dressing up like a tart got you s-assaulted and dressing up like a mouse got you s-assaulted just as badly..) I am happy you build yourself up, through all the struggle and you say you are happy with your circumsized penis, but you have never had an uncircumsized one, so how would you know? I can say I'm happy with having 2 eyes, but if I knew my parents cut out a third eye, to make me fit in, that would've made me angry. Not saying your parents had bad intentions, but you must admit that it is a shame you never got to decide for yourself. That was your own body, you get to decide what happens to it.

  11. Also, as far as I'm aware, when there is a medical need, they don't cut it off fully, but simply cut to make room on the side, like you'd do with a skirt that doesn't fit. Not remove it completely. And I'm sure that happens when the person is 12-13-14, the age where they'd be able to choose what they want.

  12.  @StormyDay  The effects of girls mutilation is worse, but that doesn't mean the male version is any less insensitive or horrible and both gruesome acts should stop.

  13.  @StormyDay  Okay, well, do we get any further with argueing who gets more pity? I'm fairly sure the girls circumcision gets more public attention at this point and males do not. And now it is important to make the males-situation also important, in this instance there is a lot of suffering going unnoticed. Nobody is suggesting we have to ignore the women's rights in this. I certainly am not Why would I?
