Well, I've been beaten up a lot, but the words stick in your brain.
It's difficult. I remember the black eyes, the scars on my face (literally, I was pushed into a radiator-system) and at the time, those hurt móre than words.
But the facial expression of someone, when he said; 'I'm not going to help yóu! Eeek! Eeeew!"
Or someone who told me; 'I don't want to be friends with you anymore. You get bullied and they'll target me as well. Sorry."
Or a teacher saying; 'Are you súre what happened isn't something that you made up in your head? It sounds overdramatic...and youknow, Joey said he hadn't done anything-'
Thóse things still hurt like a mofo after 13 years.
Because you don't get targeted with violence, in your adult life. But you dó get nasty comments from (let's say) a manager.
Who might say; 'Are you sure Amanda didn't send you the paperwork? Surely Amanda wouldn't purposely nót-send them to you? I trust Amanda in this. "
You get the same feeling, a sortof..confirmation from the past, that you and/or your opinion are 'still as worthless" as they were before.
The black eye-scenario was wáy easier to forget.
