RJ S you are delusional. Musk left CA because its a shot hole with overbearing taxes and no freedom. Dems ruin everything they touch. Detroit, Baltimore, DC no so on. Your idiot comment about IQs is hilarious too. CA is a has-been state just in the beginning of its decline. You know it, I know it and so do 100,000s of educated high earners that have left.

@R.machado I’m originally from Sunnyvale. I grew up on Knickerbocker and I used to work for Tesla. I agree with everything you’ve said, and the Bay Area is still the ultimate incubator of new technology and is the most green friendly state in the union, but going forward it only makes sense that he begin to migrate away from CA. The fact that CA is the largest consumer of Teslas, which is true, doesn’t mean that he should be over paying to have them built there. His goal is to make EVs available to the masses, not the CA 1%ers. You can’t do that while building EVs in CA. Period. CA is obscenely expensive to manufacture anything. SpaceEx is still big in CA, but much of that is moving to Texas too. Plus he needs to cash out $5b in shares to start another venture, so why would he pay CA an extra $750m to get access to his money when Texas wouldn’t tax him at all. Answer: He wouldn’t. He’s in Texas for good, no doubt about it.

RJ S I have a BSEE and an MBA and would be happy to put my IQ or earnings up against yours any day, all day. All the best

RJ S That is awesome. Respect. All the best. I’ve had very blessed life and managed to steer clear of any trouble despite having my own set of issues. It’s easy to get heated in comments, particularly in politics, but I’m sure we’d be drinking buddies if we lived next door

@R.machado Bro, I’ve lived in SJ and I’ve lived in Austin and to me Austin is 10x better. Much more affordable, much cleaner, less traffic, few homeless, much better music and bar environment, great university town, beautiful river flowing through the city, awesome lake just outside town. Obviously its more humid, but I like the heat so its not a factor to me.

@R.machado He’ll move most of his interests to Texas over time, because the business climate is soooooo much better than CA’s. SpaceEX launches are there, Cyber Truck Giga Factory is being built in Texas. He just moved the HQ of his charitable organization to Texas and he’s already served notice that there is a good chance he’ll shutdown the Fremont Tesla factor and move it too. This is just another example in a long line of smart people leaving CA and moving to Texas and other pro-business states.
