Pre purchase inspection for Troy? (believe it or not, I made this comment before I saw the whole video) Even the Ford emblem was too embarrassed to be on the truck. Assuming the owner PAID to have it towed in, it now has negative value. Thanks for the fun video.

With uneven pad wear when the slide pins are not frozen, is there a concern for the conditon of the caliper pistons in their bores?
4
Dealer quote was $2000 for head gaskets on my Forester. Oil all over everything underneath.
4
I love the "Lifetime Oil" sticker telling you what type of oil to use right next to the oil drain plug.
4
Nah, Troy is laughing his ass off!!!
4
Wife unit liked it until the first time she had to pay for a fillup.....

Looked to me like it was Maya doing the painting, not Troy in this video Troy appeared to be working on the car in the 3rd bay.

@WhiteBuffalo59 I worked IT in a hospital. It was either that or a loose nut on the keyboard. Nursing units were hard on equipment.

NGK says NO. "Do not use anti-seize or lubricant on NGK spark plugs. It is completely unnecessary and can be detrimental."
4
My FIL purchased an aftermarket warranty years ago. When he tried to use it the company was out of business.
4
My first thought also when I saw it. Needs an overcam release like vice grip pliers.
4
Instead of longer chains, weld on more D rings. The load needs better lateral retention which you would get with closer rings. You are not just securing for a normal ride home but for a SHTF incident. When I ordered my utility trailer I requested D-rings every 2 feet instead of just one in each corner. I've used them all at one time or another. That long crossed chain at the rear don't cut it. Separate chain on each side connected closer. All IMO

We are on our 2nd Jeep Wrangler. Not our primary transport but very fun and we enjoy having a Jeep. Have had very little trouble.

@stevenbaker9327 Wait till you hear the body shop next door at the new shop 😀
4
I doubt it. The previous place was a multiple location repair chain. I suspect those types of repair shops are used to turnover. Big multiple location businesses have no institutional memory. (IMO)

The Rabbit hole... radiator, why not hoses, thermostat, belts, air filter etc.... where do you stop? I thought the rubber stuff looked a bit crusty in the video. Customer choice though.
4
This should be like an audience participation game show. Part 1 shows the problem. We all get to give our 2 cents worth (crowd sourced solution). And in part 2 we find out the correct solution so that those who got it right can pat themselves on the back.

My first new vehicle when I graduated from college was a 75 F100. Dealership clutch replacement did not bolt the cross member in.
4
The engine on my 2009 5,3 took an AFM dump at 150K. Pissed me off, things breaking that shouldn't be there to begin with. Was told not practical to repair. I read AFM improves mpg by 7%. I don't drive a truck to save a piddly amount of gas.

@dannylinc6247 You missed the Japanese JIS phillips common on Japanese motorcycles,, surely other stuff. Looks like a Phillips but really is not exactly the same. I think JIS screw heads have a dot on them. Regular phillips will strip/slip out if over torqued, JIS does not. This is why most Americans (and some mechanics) can not get the float bowl off a Japanese motorcycle carburator without f-ing them up. Wrong tool for the job. Snap-on had a special toothy plier for grabing and getting the f-ed up bowl screws off. (JIS=Japanese Industrial Standard) Last I checked the Snap-On plier was obsolete and sold for a slight premium when you could find them.

I've watched a bunch of Rays videos and have wondered at his aversion to funnels. I only take care of my own vehicles but I have funnels for every application.
4
Pretty sure those tires are running on a Chrysler 8.25", not a Dana 35.
4
Got smart and put a block under the trailer jack. 👍 There are really good double sided tape on the market. No holes needed in the lid.
4
Fix the battery hold down properly. I did not see one other comment about the screw job.
4
I'd be pissed if a new tire was already 5 years old. I replace my trailer tires between 7 and 10.

I was more focused on the debris around the filler cap.

what @mikemarshall1394 said.... 1 minute saved times a million engines...🤣🤣🤣
3
I recall my mechanic saying the cast iron separated out brought a bit more. The rotors & such went to a different pile.
3
You reinstalled the driver side motor brace bolt opposite of removal 13:39. Now looks like it is going to rub the heater hose 44:55. Or so it appears.
3
With the engine sideways it would have to be dropped out of the chassis to replace the cam. The time to do it was when he had the engine out previously.
3
@MonkeyJedi99 HA HA Been there, done that. Upstate NY in my youth.

A non emergent job that would have been more fun on the new 4 post.... only a week wait.

‘I can understand perfectly how the report of my illness got about, I have even heard on good authority that I was dead. James Ross Clemens, a cousin of mine, was seriously ill two or three weeks ago in London, but is well now. The report of my illness grew out of his illness. The report of my death was an exaggeration.’ Mark Twain, June 2nd, 1897

Up north, when the chassis rots. In the South, as Wayne Essar says. Grew up in NY North of Eric O. In the 60's you could see the road under your feet in as little as 5 years. My brother still lives there and replaces for rot, not mechanical.
3
Troubleshooting and diagnosis is usually easier or less confusing when you are the first one in. Thanks for the video.
3
Back seat supervisor here. You had the coil out, Would pulling the plug for a look-see added anything? Others have already commented but my first concern was if the previous oil change correctly refilled.
3
160K miles and 10y/o things wear. Agree with James Richardson.
3
Ray, I suggest that someday when you get that airplaane, don't let quickie-lube change the oil in it.... ;o)
3
@AnthonyLovato Catch is Ray bought that lift used. History???
3
He has rubber bumpers already. View 1:23-1:26

See video about 3 weeks ago "Mechanic states, I quit..." starting at about minute 32:00 in the video for the story.
3
Even worse in the grass in front of my barn. Cement in the future for me also.
3
Trans phobia seems to be a big thing in Florida...🤣🤣
3
No video for 2 days. I was so depressed I went back to bed.... 😂😂😂
3
That $3K is only about 4 months payment on a new one which he would have to pay on for many years. If he likes the truck I'd say he's money ahead.
3
Running 4 qts of cleaner in a 6 qt engine bothers me a bit. i guess level and stationary is OK. Will this cleaning help decide if the engine is good enough to justify expense of a new exhaust? Would be interesting to take a look inside the pan and oil pickup after this.

Switches can be wired here in US, don't condem us all. It's just that the wiring in that shop is a mess by just about anyones standards. Did you see the main panel in yesterdays video?
3
My SIL had a mechanic tell her she needed a new engine by coming out and just listening to it. Had her take it to my trusted mechanic friend. Turns out it was a FU by the same mechanic done previously, The distributor was not fastened so out of time and some other miscellaneous sloppiness.
