We Indians are beyond poverty, everyone lives on 1 dollar a day, punlic transport doesn't even exist besides rusty autos, roads are unpaved, small and filthy, people only have filty, torn clothes and move around via bull-a-cart and everyone are illiterate farmers who live in a metal hut in the middle of a Jungle even though India's merchandise exports are over 100 billion USD more than the UK but whatever makes them sleep at night.

China is miles ahead of us easily, it's been an open economy since 1976 and has had a straightforward, no nonsense government that works for the people, until now, our government was to busy squabbling on some dumb topic or the other though in the last 10 years, Modi has shut off a lot of the BS and pumped life into the economy, India is even being talked about like this because of Modi though he also has his flaws. Some plans are poorly executed like demonetization or Ram Mandir, the un needed religious hoobla and refusal to accept Islam, India is a secular state where people regardless of religion can live, not be persecuted.

Best example as one comment said was India and Pakistan, at the start and even into the 80s Pakistan was richer and stronger but now 40 years later, there Indian companies who have more economic output than Pakistan. India still isn't a super rich country but we are at least middle income but that still shows the gap and just to show it even more, if we take Pakistan's GDP of 274 billion USD, you would have to go back to 1990 for the last time current Pakistan would be richer than India. India's manufacturing output is more than double Pakistan's GDP, India merchandise exports are bigger than Pakistan's GDP because India and Indians worked hard and developed the country, the Pakistanis were to pre occupied with religion

India isn't so poor, India's per capita income by PPP is 10,430 USD. our GDP is 4.1 trillion USD by nominal standards and 14.6 trillion USD by PPP, our industrial output is 776 billion USD which is the 4th highest on earth, our exports are 626 billion USD, our average household income is 8 lakh INR, poverty rate is 12% by 3.65 USD a day, extreme poverty is just 2.6% by 1.90 USD a day, household ownership is 84% and 97% of Indians have a house though if u were to exclude squatter settlements it would be around 88%. India is lower middle class, poor is a country like Gambia.

China has grown at an average 9.5%, India is around 6.5%, China grew faster due to strict laws and a stubborn govern along with no competition, they were the only newly liberalized, cheap market for a while and even when others liberalized, China had way more incentives and pros. India has been leading manufacturing relative to our rivals like Indonesia, Vietnam and Bangladesh though compared to China we are progressing slower as the country kinda skipped out on manufacturing and jumped straight to IT though it's now re investing into manufacturing. India's current poverty rate by 3.65 USD is 12%, that 44% stat is from 2013, the people will always be disappointed because it isn't Congress who's in charge where your quote of "everything works in spite of the government" came from. The current government has invested billions on strong infra, education, healthcare, manufacturing and technology which is why India is currently the fastest growing major economy, the state owned companies like BEML and HAL are quite efficient, they have pumped high quality products like the Vande Bharat train, HAL Tejas, Metro trains, Power and etc, the government is corrupt, for sure but to say it can't carry out any thing is delusion, the government has started projects like the Mumbai Ahmedabad high speed railway, bharatmala, Vizhijnam mother port, freight corridors all started in 2022-23 and are finishing up in 2024, 2025 and 2026, these are just the tip of the iceberg, the government has brought in billions of FDI, privatized a ton of industries like IT, Automobile, smart device, electronic device, semi conductor manufacturing and more by allocating space, funds and infrastructure to set up shop. The caste system is another piece of crap butt hurt western channels like this like to bring up, caste has been illegalized and is only practiced by the few rural and illiterate morons still here. Reading in mother is a stupid stat to bring up when more than 80% of people can speak their mother tounge and around 25% of the population speaks English, by the 6th grade, around 93% of kids can perform large division sums, again old stat and the stat that says schools refuse teach English is pure idiocy, even people on the road know a few words of English, only the USA has more English speakers, politicians push English, it's only in Tamil Nadu where English is frounded upon, this is absolute bullshit. India is not such a poor country, the poverty rate is 12%, even by the upper income line of 6.85 USD, India's poverty rate is 36% . This is supposed to be a case study, not a 15 minute video of some British bum putting crap into a screen and calling it a case study.

Its a 60/40, more low technology companies like fashion brands, make up brands, automobiles manufacturers set up in Vietnam whereas higher technology companies like automobile manufacturers, electronic device manufacturers, semi conductor manufacturers, pharmaceutical manufacturers and more but India is slightly ahead because of a far larger population, more technological advancement and more widespread infrastructure though Vietnam is not exactly hell

India in itself is miles ahead, the average household income in India is 9530 USD, it's 4430 USD in Pakistan, the average Indian farmer makes 3600 USD to the 1980 USD made by the Pakistani ones, the average Indian factory worker makes 6570 USD compared to 3100 USD in Pakistan, the average ITian in India makes 11,340 USD to just 7850 USD in Pakistan and the average sevice sector employee makes 8550 USD in India and 6800 USD in Pakistan. The per capita income in India doubles Pakistan comparing $ 2300 to just 1312$. The GDP of the Indian state of Maharashtra in itself has a larger economy than Pakistan while having 1/2 the population. The percentage of Indians who were middle class a decade ago was 34% and now it's 42%, the upper class went from 27% to 28% and the low income people went from 39% to 30%. Modi isn't a fascist, even if he is it's more than commendable so cry more and go fix a Toyota Camry
