Here are my 2 cents. In order to end the looming constitutional crisis, I think Democrats and Republicans must make the deal described below: Let Mike Pence go off the hook and take over the presidency. If the Democrats try to impeach both Trump and Pence to make Pelosi the president, there is no way for Republicans to support such a plan so they will fight to the end to thwart Democrat's impeachment. And they will win, Democrats will get nothing from the impeachment. However, if Pence can take over, then everything changes. Lots of Republicans, I guess Joni Ernst included, will consider this as a good chance to get rid of Trump the fake republican and to put a real republican in the White House. This is the only way to make everybody happy except the Trumps.
