  3. Unfortunately that's not how power stations work. You can't just up the power. They have to spin at the same speed to maintain the frequency and run at full load. That's why they have open circuit gas turbines that can quickly be turned on at peak demand.

  4. Government mandates are the only thing driving this. Wouldn't happen otherwise. Siemens have posted billions in losses because subsidies are being withdrawn. Hopefully, one day no organisations will put themself forward to build windmills
