@randallsmerna384 So the made up 6 foot thing is based on a sick person having a 6 foot cloud of virus particle around them (with a density that falls to "safe" at 6 feet").
So if the omicron is 1000x more transmittable (which is what the news said), you can estimate you need to lower the density by a factor of 1000 to achieve "safe". Out in a field, that means increasing the volume of danger air by 1000---which requires increasing the dimension by ~10 (cube root of 1000--I got it wrong in the OP, so make it 60 feet)--that ignores wind, and the ground and stuff...it's order of magnitude.
If you are at Walmart, with a ceiling, that cuts off diffusion in the vertical, so the evil virus particles with spread out in circle...so take the square root of 1000 (~30...got that wrong too, make that 180 feet..still, a ridiculous number).
Finally in a hallway, the the previous six foot safe distance is spear out in one dimension, so 6000 feet (say, 1 nautical mile) of social distances.
Sorry I got (10^3)^(1/3) confused with (10^2)^(1/2) in the 1st post...the point was the experts fear monger us that it was super duper contagious, but didn't change the magical six foot social distance at all. I found it ridiculous.
Remember the news showing simulations of a sneeze quickly filling an office space? Well with omicron, 1 sneeze is now equal to 1000 sneezes, yet noting changed. I found that odd. as in "BS" level odd.
