  8. In the Schwarzschild solution there is no matter in there. It all goes to the singularity, which is a point defect in spacetime. That is, it's not part of spacetime. It's a missing point, cloaked in a horizon.

  17. It's really neat that right after QM comes out--the theory of the micro, Sirius B, the 1st white dwarf is discovered, and known to be ultra dense--and someone has the brains to say "maybe it's quantum mechanics?" Talk about "extrapolation".

Yes! gravity free space-time is hyperbolic, which is why you can accelerate forever and never reach the speed of light, and if you stop: absolutely nothing has changed about space-time, it looks identical to when/where you started. A flash of light will still propagate away from you at "c" in all directions.
