  1. OMG, so true. The comments are always "we know nothing". No, we know a crap load. We know the envelope, and it's big. What is just outside the envelope my be a mistake or a revolution, but is most likely an incremental increase. And then there's string theory.

  3. that max CL is a big problem in climate change. The 2100 word temp anomaly prediction is mostly not too bad, but there is a tail out to +5C....so they report 5C, which is a disaster, but if you look at the (totally non-gaussian) spread of the models: oh hell no, it ain't happening.

  4. exactly. Pop sci with known gravity or QFT is pretty amazing, and worth learning about. But it's non-stop multiverse, eternal inflation, "bubbling quantum vacuum"--I hate that one.

  5. I don't think you need to take down the BiCEP video, just pin an editorial comment. I have lived through cold fusion, FTL neutrinos, the 17 KeV neutrino, a 780 GeV pp --> X --> 2gamma hype at LHC, high Tc superconductor, fusion break-even BS, pentaquarks, charm in the proton, EMC effect (oh wait, that's was real), universe is 27B y/o, and idk what else. It's part of science.
