During 2016, there were literally fake news stories that were click bait with weird info on Facebook, and the real Fake News tried to pin the elections on the "sponsored by" fake articles fooling the kids...and CNN brought it up, and Trump just turned it around and said to CNN "You're Fake News", and meme was born.
