that's the most interesting? idk, SRTM has over 10,000 citations. Maybe finding invisible meteor craters is cooler than trucks. js.

@diox8tony a lot light stuff is quantum, for which microwave have the maser.

7:40 this is not how pulsed SAR Doppler works. The shift at the carrier frequency (GHz) is not the Doppler you care about. Rather, each pulse is mixed down and there is an along-track dependent phase change that is equivalent to a Doppler. The platform need not be moving for this to work, it just needs to be at the right position when the data is taken.

did you catch the (pulsed) Doppler error at 7:40?

NASA sensors have a 1 meter minimum resolution, anything smaller isn't science.

liquid: no solid: yes (see:MARSIS)

exp(ikx) does F.T.s, and describes a coherent laser beam. Diffraction, double slit experiment are just the FT of the aperture. But it's super cool that it works for a radar image.

SEASAT?

can't digitize at 100-1000 THz. The reason they used film in the way back time is they couldn't digitize (and compute) at GHz. Note SAR predates FFTs by 14 years. And without Tukey-Cooley, digital is a non-starter.
