  3. Ukraine attacking Russia proper in any significant number will trigger mass mobilization and a total war footing for the country - if anything this is the excuse Putin needs. Belarusian President Lukashenko said that any attack on Belarus territory will trigger Belarus joining the war with its entire force. Before it was just Russia and LDPR now it would also add Belarus (which apparently has a decent army). Which would be bad news for Ukraine in the North
