@wolfvale7863 nah. Modern historians say that the USSR would still have won the war regardless of lend lease, it just take half a year longer. Lend lease didnt really do anything to change the course of the war.

@wolfvale7863 the USSR had a GDP of 359 billion in 1941. 11 billion spread out over a few years was nothing in the grand scheme of things lol

@wolfvale7863 Russia is jot fighting a total war style scenario though - not like the USSR was or like Ukraine is. Indeed, should Russia mobilize the entire country (including women and children), put millions into factories, conscript millions of men (soviet stockpiles were designed with just such a scenario in mind) etc I expect Ukraine would have problems even with Western help. The question is - will Russia do it. Probanly not.

@Wolfvale so? Russia made the final payment in 1989 because the US charged a large interest on the loan (indeed WW2 interest paid by the Allies to the United States can arguably be the deciding factor that turned it into the worlds dominant power) - you yourself said it was only 11.3 billion spread over a long period of time, which equated to less than 4 billion a year in terms of aide - this was barely anything compared to the USSRs overall GDP, even with the devastation the war caused. Indeed, although large swathes of the territory was lost, most industry was rapidly relocated east behind the Urals. Indeed, the numbers you presented are overinflated generally by a factor of 10, as these were't the numbers delivered to the Soviets alone but spread amongst the Allied powers and China. Point is this - a decade ago Americans claimed they won the war - but when everyone learned the Soviets won the war the narrative shifted to "akshually it was lend lease that won the war" - this couldn't be further from the truth. But nice try.

@wolfvale7863 lol. I am fluent in Russian. I know the quote you are referring to but I have not been able to find a Russian language source for this quote. In fact, it is only present in English language publications but no Russian language source is available meaning its probably a fake quote or falsely attributed to Stalin. Even WW2 historian David Glanz says that Lend Lease had no effect on the outcome of WW2 beyond speeding it up. The result would have been the same except taken an extra 18 months. Lol at Russians not being able to fight - Americans could barely defeat a bunch of German 18 y.o recruits and old men at the beaches of Normandy after years of preparation. Meanwhile the USSR faced the brunt of the axis forces with entire European support behind them and had already captured the initiative by winter 1942. Indeed, if Ukraine had few losses dont you think theyd be trumpeting that to the world for propaganda purposes? The fact that theyre not only proves they have high losses

@wolfvale7863 its not an exaggeration - the amount of losses and the difficulty America experienced taking the beach against a bunch of 18 y.o recruits and old men is absurd. The troops at Normandy were far from the german elites - those were on the Eastern front lol. And the Soviets still beat America to Berlin

@wolfvale7863 you said that Stalin said that quote - as far as Im aware he never spoke English. So that means he must have said it in Russian - but there is no evidence for him saying this in Russian lol. Sounds like a quote Americans made up to cope abt not playing any significant role in the war and being beaten by a bunch of commies. But keep coping that Lend Lease played any significant role in the war when even Historians say it didnt. Americans have been brainwashed and cant fathom that anyone can do anything without them lol
