@rockrabbit253 they haven't dropped that dramatically actually as gas sales to India alone have grown 22x. And IMF predicts 2.1% growth for Russian economy in 2024

@RockRabbit did you not read abt India has purchased over 100 billion USD of Russian gas and that's only growing. Add to that the African and South American market and Russia ain't doing bad lol. Europe is not the only place on Earth believe it or not

@rockrabbit253 Russian central bank has been wrong before. They predicted a collapse of the ruble, which never happened and surprised even then. Even with IMF downgrade, it still predicts economic growth - which is the point I'm trying to make.

@RockRabbit IMF has been wrong but very infrequently given that they have entire teams analyzing economic growth of countries. Russia has been posting massive deficits? Is that so? Interesting considering that it's trade in Oil alone has grown 22x with India. Also, Russian industry has gotten a large stimulus (especially in metallurgy and electronics) but other industries (like automotive which has traditionally been weak) have suffered. Point is - the IMF and World Bank predictions are more likely to be accurate . I mean if NATO leaks are anything to go by (and open source information gleaned by organizations such as Mediazona), Russia doesn't have that many deaths and Ukrainian deaths severely outweigh Russian ones.

@TUNA CANOE people have been saying they are screwed for a year now lmao. Foreign companies are still there - mainly from China and Asia. Swift may be blocked but Russia has its own system and uses the Chinese system for transactions. Military industry is always upstream of commercial industry - it eventually trickles down into civilian life. The number of killed and wounded is relatively small and are primarily from unproductive members of society (there's a reason why so many people who volunteered were from Asian regions like Yakutsk or Buryatia - those regions don't have many economic opportunities). Point is - Russia is doing better than you think

@TUNA CANOE I just checked the price of crude oil. It's selling at $82.18 as of today. Russia needs to sell at $20/barrel to break even so anything above that gives them a profit. So Russia is still making a profit regardless of how you look at it lol

@tunacanoe2143 and what are "Russias goals" according to you?
2
@tunacanoe2143 "if" russia capitulates. If NATO leaks are to be believed, Ukraine is closer to capitulation than Russia

@RockRabbit lol the "small numbers" are in the hundreds of billions. Russia sold $300 billion of gas to China alone. And Russia has pipes that go to Asia, plus it bought up every spare tanker in existence and transports oil by sea via its "Gray Fleet". In addition, Europe continues to buy Russian oil from third countries (indirectly)

@TUNA CANOE source for them wanting to do a "2003 American style Thunder run"? Preferably statements by Putin or Russian military leadership? What did Putin state where his goals, do you even remember? Lol Also, that's assuming that the American "Thunder run" in Iraq even happened lol. Americans never really fought the Iraqis since the Iraqi army laid down its arms since all its Generals were bribed by America before the war. There's quite a few NYT articles from the time on the matter. But let's ignore that part, right

@TUNA CANOE they have been screwed for over a year? Really? Wanna explain to me then why Bloomberg listed Russias Rouble as "the strongest currency of 2022"? Also why the IMF projects economic growth in Russia for 2024? Did you not read what I wrote - many people who were mobilized or even volunteered to go weren't working as they come from poorer areas of the country. Lol you really believe that Ukraine has lost 17k men when even Zelensky stated a few months ago that Ukraine was losing up to 500 men a day? The most accurate source has so far been Mediazona that lists Ukrainian losses over 100k and Russian losses at around 60k (with around 19k dead). And it's not a pro-Russian source too, with a unique methodology. The losses that are in the documents are taken from Ukrainian claims and have not been confirmed by the US separately.
