  1. Ukraine has "lasted this long" on the backs of massive losses. VDV is not meant to be used as stormtroopers but rather to take and hold poorly defended positions. Which is what they did on the flanks of the Bakhmut, Avdeevka operations and even in Hostomel

  3. @alanbaskaev3907  Russian army uses Sergeants as NCOs. The Sergeant of a platoon fulfills the role of an NCO. There is no dedicated NCO corps, but its there in a different way

  4. @alanbaskaev3907  thats exactly what I am telling you. You are looking at it from an American/NATO doctrinal perspective. Russian army is much different. Their Sergeants serve for years and some never progress further. Sergeants in the Russian Army are expected to be familiar with every weapon system in their platoon, communications systems, in addition to be expected for helping with logistics and tactical planning. For example as we saw in Russias recent assualt on Krasnogorovka, some platoons were cut off from HQ and it was the Sergeants that took control and were able to turn the tide in their favor.

  5. @alanbaskaev3907  there have been significant reforms, and the quality has significantly gone up especially after introduction of Wagner trainers, after all the Russians have been preparing for war for a while now

  10.  @uniformmike05  wanna link the video and photos? The BBC documentary you refer to had a group of BBC reporters going to Gostomel to discover Russian soldiers (with white bands) standing around guarding the perimeter. The 331 got damaged due to poor use in assualts on Irpin not Gostomel

  12. Russian strategy with armor has been fine and consistent with worldwide military docterine. What changed was drones. They have adapted their tank tactics to this new threat quite well
