  1. Why is the soldier featured in body armor holding a rifle that that was removed from british service about 50 years before the war broke out? No one went into the trenches with muzzle loaders, and the exposed hammer and ram rod kind of give it away, if i had to guess, its a P1853 Enfield Carbine, or at best a snyder conversion, still long out of service by this time, as the oldest small arm dredged up by the brits during the war was the Martini Henry, and even it was relegated to training pourposes inside the UK during the war, so the picture might be older than the conflict in question
