@24tommy109 I remember watching innocent men women and children being herded into the Odessa trade union building in 2014, some were journalist and organizers for Borotba, most were just innocent bystanders, they were attacked and forced into the building by svaboda party footballers, right sektor fascist and cops who supported the coup, they were barricaded inside then the the building was set on fire, they shot the people that tried to jump from the windows, over 40 were burned alive, this is but one of many atrocities commited by the Ukrainians against their own people, Russia has every bit as much of a right to remove these criminals as Vietnam had taken the right to intervene against pol pot and the Khmer rouge.

@nobbynobbs8182 The aggression was taking place long before russia intervened. the people have the right to democratic referendum, an Illegal, antidemocratic coup government in Kiev denied that right, they started the bloodletting in response. they never once stopped, they never attempted to uphold the Minsk Agreement. Slava Donetsku, Slava Lugansku. Nyet Pasaranskim Fascistham.

@danielm.4346 No, Ukraine attacked the populace of donbas for expressing their right to democratic referendum in the face of an illegal coup that did not represent them. Not Russia, although cutting off fresh water to the people of Crimea was and is a war crime as defined by the Geneva convention, and given that the people of Crimea are russian citizens,Ukraines aggression towards Russia and refusal to adhere to the Minsk agreement made the intervention inevitable. Multiple people in this thread make the argument that this conflict was never about donbas, by the hands of the Ukrainians peace was never attempted, Russia listed its concerns and need for peace for 8 years while the west only sent more arms and advisors to encourage further slaughter. Maybe this never was about Donbas, maybe Victoria Nuland just really wanted a new customer for General Dynamics, mission accomplished.

Just as the people of Donetsk and Lugansk have had every right to the Democratic referendum that the illegal coup government has denied to them for 8 years, the people of Crimea have the right to fresh water even though Ukraine cut water access to the peninsula in breach of the Geneva Convention. the world needs to stop ignoring these fact and likewise needs to stop following a bias driven narrative.

@DreadX10 There was popular referendum by the Crimean populace in which the majority of chose to seperate from Ukraine under the pretext of the illegal coup that took place in 2014, this was witnessed by international observers and no signs or evidence of tampering were presented. The people of Crimea held the right to democratic referendum, when declared terrorists by the Kiev regime they chose to seek the protection of Russia, given the massacres that had just taken place in Odessa and Mariupol this was a measured action, the west clearly wasnt about to intervene and the violence was only growing, Russia offered protection and stability. Russia did not invade Crimea, as they already had troops there peacefully, the naval base of Sevastopol was being leased bu Ukraine to Russia since 1991, and Russia has maintained a garrison there to protect its ships and facilities, as does every nations naval bases around the world. Your not invading a country that you've been in for over a decade.

@North Korea Is Best Korea what about your whataboutism, I think you should worry more about addressing that, yes, there are fascist in russia, as there are in Ukraine, that does not excuse the war against the people of donbass, who by and large, arent fascist, but have been shelled by them for 8 years.

He should have went to Donetsk in 2017, or Crimea when Ukraine cut off all fresh water access in breach of the Geneva Convention, had he seen the crimes being committed by the coup government he could have demanded that they reopen water access, stop the shelling of civilian centers by Ukrainian artillery and demanded that they disengage, stop provoking Russia, and adhere to the Minsk agreement. All of this could have been avoided.

Where was Guterres in 2017 while the Ukrainian Army was killing thousands of innocents in Donbass in violation of the Minsk agreement, where was he when Ukraine cut off all fresh water access to Crimea in breach of the Geneva Convention?
1
@hk5454 Its defending it's only warm water port that Ukraine has been seeking to deny to Russia since the illegal coup in 2014.

Ask yourself why most countries in dire need of you're aid for "freedom" only turn into war torn shitholes that you strip mine the the natural wealth from for profit? -the answer is also the last word.

Евгения Едалина Yeah, all this suffering for nothing but increasing stock prices for General Dynamics, Raytheon, and Rostek, every side has their interests and their pawns in this conflict, morally speaking I find it absurd for the west to ignore the plight of the people of donbass for all these long years while they tout their democratic principles and use "freedom" as an excuse for their reign of terror around the globe yet they wouldnt lift a finger for the people of Donetsk and Lugansk when all they demanded were the constitutional democratic freedoms and right to popular referendum, the west ignored them because it was economically convenient and now demonize russia for intervening on the peoples behalf, had they threatened to pull all ecconomic support from Kiev unless Ukraine adhered to the Minsk Agreement and ended the military offensive against Donbass and agression towards Russia then escalation of the conflict could have been avoided.

@victory-ukraine sorry not sorrry I'm already sending my spare dollars to the DNR

@TeamChard Small world, I had friends in Odessa, two of them were burned alive by neonazis after the stole power with an illegal coup and declared war in the dissenting populace, the others are living in Donetsk and Russia now, mostly to continue to not being burned alive by nazis.
1
@victory-ukraine Good thing currency converters exist, not the sharpest knife in the cupboard are ye?
1
@spiritgaming1442 Given that the government and military came to power on the shoulders of corrupt oligarchs that were propped up by neonazi gangs in an armed coup supported and financed by foreign interests (namely the US), I would put quotations around democracy because as far as I'm aware that's not how democracies come to exist.
1
@TeamChard yet here you are excusing it, clearly. You started with a fun quip, skipped to your bad guys on both sides to divert blame and attention, then proceed to blame a seperate nation to divert culpability, Russia didnt finance a slew of far right political opposition parties in Kiev or support them in a violent antidemocratic armed coup, that was Victoria Nuland, not Russia.
1
@johnmurphy7316 While choosing to ignore the antidemocratic illegal coup that took place in 2014, the "Anti-Terror" campaign launched by neo-nazi groups to crush all popular descent of the coup, the wholesale slaughter of the people of donbas, the massacres committed in the name of their new national heros like stephan bandera (a known nazi-collaborator), the west chhoses to sweep all of this under the rug and pretends that the russian intervention was completely unjustified. Murdering civilians because they dont agree with your coup isnt how you build a peaceful democratic state.
1
@BravoCheesecake The Ukrainian army was butchering donbas civilians with heavy artillery for 8 years in clear breach of the Minsk Agreement before Russia intervened, the coup government in Kiev refused to recognize the democratic will of the people of Donetsk, Lugansk, and Crimea, choosing instead to call them terrorists for voting in favor of regional autonomy.
