  7. ​ @lasagnapig630 That's an objectively false narrative, Venezuela's economy was already in crisis when Maduro came to power, Venezuela has been under US and western sanctions since 2005, the western model for Venezuela left the nation in economic collapse and and an ineffective administration that was only subservient to US interest guaranteeing that American Oil giants maintained majority control over Venezuelas oil with the majority of the profits going to the US, with the agricultural market likewise being dominated by first united fruit then Monsanto, making it nearly impossible for local farmers to earn a sustainable living. This was the situation that brought Chavez to power in the Bolivarian Revolution. From 1978- 2001 Venezuelas non-oil gdp declined 19%, and its oil gdp dropped by 65%.
