WSL and his buggy brother gWSL is a gateway drug to linux. I don't think linux is ready to mainstream (better phrased, mainstream is not ready to desktop linux) but I believe any friction could be improved when more users get into it, not only because will be more feedback and more devs doing crazy magic shit, but because some of the hardest/scariest problems come from hardware and software manufacturers not properly testing on linux. Right now I feel there is a lot fragmentation in distros, appstores, visual UX, and so on... I don't believe most people can adapt to that, but for techies like us is looking bright.
