I love webapps like excalidraw or discord and I understand they are not webs in the traditional sense, what's the problem with that?

Let's say you decide to leave the cloud. Do you need to replicate the "services" that you had before. Is there an opensource equivalent of google cloud or aws that you can host yourself? I'm far from being a cloud engineer but I was trying firebase but decided to go with supabase. Is there something similar with aws?

@ScarabaeusSacer435 then why they tried to tech me those on public schools? Oh wait...

I think is time you make those jsdocs snippets.

@henrikholst7490 Don't get me wrong, Soap may be ok, is "enterprise" and probably along the same line of other goverment codebases. What worry me is that my goverment think is able to create obligatory services that can handle millions of requests per minute. It's going to be funny.

i DON'T LIKE IT

Looks like I might like Astro.

Care to explain like im a junior noob? I wish to learn more about jsdocs and zod.

That guy is huge!

@lhxperimental That is exactly what I'm asking. How to develop without tying the code to an specific platform. I've heard of openstack and terraform but I know little of them, are they even related to this?
2
@heroe1486 Yep, possible to self host

In Spain gov decided that all invoices and tickets should pass thorugh IRS. So they made a law to begin the digitalization of businesses and a couple months ago they realesed the specs. Is going to be Soap.

I decided to learn Natural and Adabas because a company my friend works in needs developers. It's in eclipse...

Doing UI with webtech has many many advantages, doing backend... well, I think I can manage to make small business apps that are performant enough, cheap to host and mostly interoperable. DB? Sqlite with Go aka pocketbase. I'm talking about apps that are used by 1 or 2 users at the same time, most likely the most people that could use this kinds of app are going to be... 20? Enough performance, onsite server with vps replica and accessible code.

Ok, so apart from languages features... Oracle vs Microsoft vs apple vs ... Which are the worst companies regarding language licensing and whatever?

It's no proper benchmark, but I did a bun install of sveltekit skeleton and bun is 2X faster than NPM!!!, but that's not 17 times faster. I don't care how they massage benchmarks if does not work as advertised in my machine. Still faster? Yes, but this might backfire.

@PanosPitsi whats the difference?

You never heard of him? He is a rockstar, watch his awesome talks!

XML and SOAP are any good?
1
You may/should laugh, but in Spain, they are building a system to control tax fraud in business and it works with SOAP. They intend to accept request for every sell made in the country. Is called Verifactu. Devs of POS are crying/laughing hard.

@Sokrates9500 If you don't expect heavy loads or if your app depends on external data and services, it makes a lot of sense to use web tech with them. I selected those two apps because they are very different. Discord doesn't do much on the client, so you don't notice is 10 times slower, and the backend can be written in whatever you like. Excalidraw in the other hand, don't do much on the server, so you could have a binary executing in the host machine without connection, but also don't do much and being a webapp suddenly you can deploy that app everywhere without much hassle. I love webapps as an user because it let me see behind the curtain and even modify them to fit me better.

Regarding "what is proper HTML", I agree, some things are outright nonsense, maybe we need html 2

In past videos, I've seen him use !npm or !g on address bar. What is that called? I try to search for it but it only shows posts about non https. Is kind of hard to find info about it, something like searching info about wikipedia itself. Could somebody help me? is kind of amazing but I can't learn about it. btw, it works on brave by default.

The real industry standard: Wordpress & MS Excel.

Maybe they should do just assembly.

If I'm going to fire an expensive engineer and hire a cheap junior, I expect from the engineer to have made the code accessible to make my transition easier.
1
I've tried to watch some of his videos, I always feel misled.

the talk in question is already released and it has no comments ?v=fnI-QcVSwMU nobody cares

"millions of views" is 6.4k in 5 days

I've seen the talk, is already legacy. The Q&A is lamely wild.

A brief look into spanish healthcare IT system. They use NaturalOne and Adabas for mainframes. In each department, they have an spreadsheet in which they say what they are working on and other people should not work on the same file. Not even the spreadsheet has version control.

I do critique "wordpress" to be insecure.
