You can carry on with your normal lives…just don’t criticize the party.

@geolingua1632 - Russia has one of the greatest cultures on the planet particularly when appraising literature and music. The USSR was a German import imposed on citizens by elitist intellectuals. It was the very antithesis of free expression in literature and music.

@ThomasBlack452 - Yeah, because everyone knows that in a one party state criticism of the government is welcome….between purges and famines.

Who else is sick of YouTube deleting their comments (not aggressive, rude, or controversial)?

What boggles my mind is, how could one expect anything but tyranny when only one person or political party has absolute unopposed authority? I don't mind that there will always be people willing to grovel before the state. What annoys me is that such people demand that everyone else be dragged into dystopia with them. An improved beet harvest or slave-constructed dam is no justification for depriving people of options in an open society.

@ЛизаХ-л2г - Shostakovich was close to being imprisoned or sent off to the gulag for writing “formalist” music instead of “Soviet Realism.” His fourth symphony is a masterpiece that he withheld from public performance because of the risks an artist takes under an evil communist system.

@ЗЕЛЁНЫЙОСТРОВ-к2о - Hopefully you didn’t report fellow citizens who didn’t share your love of authoritarian collectivism.
3
@Ivan-wp1ne1 - Do we really want to live in a society where one must “watch their mouths?”

@sashakirova4911 - I’m actually fairly acquainted with history. I’m well aware of the terrible circumstance many people have lived under. Fortunately, conditions for most of humanity have improved considerably. Crediting a single — authoritarian German — political ideology for a better world falls a bit short of reasonable skepticism. Some will worship at the alter of state authority and thank them for whatever crumbs they provide, others value free expression unobstructed by bureaucrats and cult rule.

An improved beet harvest slave-constructed dam is no justification for enslaving a people.

@ - No disagreement from me. The “Angloshere” in particular has been hit hard by this neo-Stalinist nonsense. I’d really hate to live in England now where the government is threatening to extradite the citizens of other countries for criticizing their terrible policies regarding immigration and censorship. Covid was their initial excuse to get the ball rolling on this nonsense. Who knows what their next scheme will be.

@Ivan-wp1ne1 - Some people would no doubt be happy in a place like North Korea, after all it was built on the Stalinist model.
1
@ОльгаШелл-г5ь - Actually I didn’t choose him, precisely because his policies are like those of the Soviet politburo.

Do I have to remind you that Shostakovich, like many Soviet artists had to walk on eggshells to avoid imprisonment — or worse. This isn’t about Russia vs. America. It’s about those who favor as much individual freedom as possible vs. those who wish to enslave their fellow citizens to the whims of a violent radical clique of ideologues.

@user-tg8vv1tg2u - I hate repeating myself but, have some common sense, any system that focuses power into one person or political institution is going to suck. There will always be boot-lickers cheering on the cause. North Korea, Venezuela, et al. will no doubt gladly welcome new citizens to their paradise…I don’t see a lot of people lining up to get in.

@tinominelli5606 - Two parties (the “uniparty”) is irrelevant. A just and prosperous system requires contending values peacefully and fairly arriving at decisions that protect the freedoms of a population. Being afforded the right to “pursue happiness” is preferable to having someone else’s vision crammed down your throat under threat of persecution.

@tinomine… You tube deleted my comment — Soviet style, so I’ll try again. Two parties (the "uniparty") is irrelevant. A just and prosperous system requires contending values peacefully and fairly arriving at decisions that protect the freedoms of a population. Being afforded the right to "pursue happiness" is preferable to having someone else's vision crammed down your throat under threat of persecution. Nothing described these issues better than Orwell’s “Animal Farm.”

@andreilukyanov4286 - And yet, Boris Pasternak wasn’t permitted to accept a Nobel prize for a great work of Russian literature….because an anti-human ideology ruled over a great people for decades.
1
@valeremkin5188 - No, I’m not saying that. I’m noting the objective fact that, when one ideology reigns supreme and restricts or eliminates diverse views, the inevitable result is brutal tyranny. The communist party rulership over Russia was as China is today. It can certainly be acknowledged that the American Democrat party and aligned establishment institutions are steering America into the same direction. Authoritarian collectivism sucks whether by one party or a bogus uniparty masquerading as contending views.
