  16.  @risingphoenix8072  of course, suggesting 250 years ago is irrelevant was equally facetious. You're making a fundamental error attributing arguments me me I didn't make, opinions I don't have. The OP has a right to argue his republic should reject royals and royalists, especially if his family fought for it. Sovereignty arguments can't be dismissed because they were merely a long time ago, and in that regard 250 years is no time at all. Perhaps because i'm old enough to know those of my family shot at by the british in their war of independence a mere 100 years ago. Nevertheless, it's quite an affront to republicans, and does genuinely erode their national trust to recognise a monarch like this as they perceive their state founded as anathema to the concept of royalty.
