If you never use one you never realise you need one.

@blaser80 you do start to need special wiring though due to higher amps.

PCs have dropped drastically in power use and continue to do so due to reduction in nm size of semiconductors.

You need a little more for water vapour boil off, but only slow or expensive flat plate kettles allow single cup volumes. Usually you just fill to minimum or learn the size of your mugs.

@Padlix us plugs aren't safe for it, they'd ideally change, but it saves on copper and wire costs as you can make the wires thinner.

@TastyPC incorrect, the performance has increased again as it had to but intel wasn't ready to drop the semiconductor size. The power use for a given process is the same. But that is a shock as it has so far only decreased from intel, as they pushed energy efficiency as a selling point.

@christophervanzetta i've been doing this a little longer. Also check your idle power use on a comparable machine from '02. It has changed quite a lot. A couple years back i replaced an office load of early 2000's machines and you wouldn't believe the power use reduction. That's not to mention FLOPS/watt. It isn't even a joke.
