Too bad better games don't exist on PC. BOTW has set a whole new standard in Open World Game Design, it's going to be years before another game comes close to matching how good it is.

To be fair we don't know anything about RDR2, for all we know it could go the way of Mass Effect Andromeda.

Stop talking to your mirror.

Clearly someone in denial.

If it didn't have Zelda in the title it'd still be an incredible 10/10 title for how it sets new high standards for Open World Game Design. In fact this is also arguably the least "Zelda-like" game in the Zelda series, so your argument holds no weight. Stop living in denial.

Clearly you are, as nearly every single major review is saying that. That's why it's getting so many 10's.

It's an actual Open World Sandbox that grants you limitless freedom. More than any other Open World Game to date including any Elder Scrolls or GTA game. The biggest factor is the fact that the progression is completely non-linear, you can do major quests in any order, or even go straight to the final boss (though you'll get your ass kicked). As opposed to say GTA or Assassin's Creed when missions are done in a specific order, and they have to be done under very tight handheld restrictions. In fact there's absolutely no handholding whatsoever, yet the design of the game is so well put together that it makes GTA look like a sandbox on training wheels. Not on that but the game's physics engine makes the world truly feel alive, you can chop down trees, use its logs to build bridges, use magnesis to manipulate objects in a 3D space similar to Half Life's Gravity Gun. I could go on about being able to climb anywhere, how lighting and weather actually impacts gameplay rather than just for spectacle (as this video proves), Or how the game doesn't fall back on experience points to push forward character progression. Maybe if you'd actually play the game for yourself you'd actually see.

Really? I don't remember there being giant mechanical robots in Ocarina of Time.

Outdated joke is outdated.

If you're burning through your weapons too quickly, you're not playing the game very smart. And beat more shrines to get more Stamina In other words: Git Gud

Game franchises have to evolve in order to stay relevant. If they keep doing the same thing they get stale after a while. And yes I do believe Breath of the Wild is the best Zelda game to date, and I'd also go as far to say that it's the best Open World game to date.
