Upon watching a few documentaries and reading several books about the Pacific Campaign; I started to realize that the Japanese had spent a lot of money, resources and manpower building up their navy and Air Force branches, but neglected the army in so many ways. The IJA were using WW1 German Mauser rifles (obsolete by the 1930s), French WW1 heavy machine guns (obsolete by the 1920s), wore Austro-Hungarian inspired army uniforms, and relied mostly on small howitzers for support. Their tanks were also old, outdated and never got upgraded. Yet, for most of WW2, the Japanese were relying heavily on their army to do difficult fighting.

The German infantry had their own military food rations and the German Army itself had many Opel Trucks to use for hauling supplies to the front lines. The problem was not the ineffective use of modern logistics by the German army. But rather, treachery and betrayal of most German generals/commanders who actively sabotaged Hitler military plans during WW2. In France, German units were deliberately under supplied, under manned and poorly lead by treasonous generals. The US Army in France 1944, were constantly capturing German supply dumps and German supply trucks that were never used. And in battles like Carentan and Caen, German troops (despite being low on ammo), were constantly finding half of their munition crates filled with women tampons instead of ammunition. I know, it is shocking! Source: Hitler Revolution - Richard Tedor

@Seahorn_ The Germans were more than capable of fighting the Allies, despite being outnumbered and outgunned. During the Italian campaign, the Allies outnumbered and outgunned the Germans 20 to 1 and yet, still suffered enormous setbacks/casualties against the Germans. For example, during the battle for Monte Casino, 300 New Zealand troops were killed in action trying to find and destroy a German machine gun crew of only 5 men. Hitler Revolution - Richard Tedor
