Wow, thanks for sharing your experience with Brazilian steel. I never knew that Brazil produced some of its own steel. In regards to American steel being bad quality, that is an engineering and management issue. Everyone blames the blue collar workers, but America can’t even produce enough engineers in its educational system to begin with…

@WillieFungo When did I ever say I was from Sweden? You’re putting words in my mouth. I’m from America, not Sweden, so yeah, I’d be pretty worried about American technical-creative skill set decline.

You also have to take into account that by the 1980s, American industry could only hire a fraction of the engineers they so desperately needed to implement new technology. You can only hire x amount of blue collar workers based on how many engineers you’ve already got. This is more than just American labor unions…

@Thunderrolls87 The government and union can fight this corporate deal all they want, but it doesn’t change anything in the end. Decade by decade, America is losing its engineering and technical excellence on the world stage. Even if you guys were to strike down the the deal, the up and coming generation don’t have the educational capability to do such a massive industrial task.

@CuriousCrow-mp4cx That is an excellent comment!!

Not with America declining technical excellence.

@Thunderrolls87 On an massive industrial scale; no. But on a local/state level with the use of old style craftsmanship; then yes. America has already lost most of its industrial base and it won’t take another 5 decades to lose the remaining 10%.

American steel companies are a byproduct of the American empire. As the American empire crumbles and rots away; so will once important institutions, corporations and big businesses. It’s only a matter of time before USS goes under.

@WillieFungo What are you talking about??! Sweden has regulated itself out of producing anything from a dirty industry!! In fact, the entire EU has done just that with their new set of regulatory restrictions! At this point, only China can produce high volumes are good quality steel.

@WillieFungo Because the federal government has over regulated and over taxed American manufacturing, steel mills, domestic textile production etc. out of existence. What else are these American students supposed to do, other than go into computer science, electrical engineering, and research into AI? Get a degree in gender studies? Lol

@WillieFungo Sweden cannot keep 20th century heavy industries because they do not have the demographics. Sweden is in the same situation as America. Collapsing birth rates and old people retiring everywhere. Your argument is off topic and meaningless.
